Esthetique 2025 - Rabindranath Tagore Art Award | Online Art-Photography Exhibition | Kreative Minds

This Exhibition is dedicated to The Poet Who Painted.

While Rabindranath Tagore is best known as a Nobel Laureate and a celebrated poet, he was also a remarkable visual artist. He began painting later in life, in his sixties, initially experimenting with spontaneous doodles that gradually evolved into a distinct artistic expression. His creations encompass a diverse array of imaginative forms—fantastical beasts, enigmatic masks, expressive human faces, mystical landscapes, birds, and flowers. Tagore's art is deeply individualistic, marked by bold forms, rhythmic energy, and a dreamlike quality. It is believed that he was red-green colour blind, which led to the use of unconventional colour combinations and a unique aesthetic that set his work apart. By 1930, Tagore had created thousands of artworks and had become the first Indian artist to exhibit internationally, showcasing his works across Europe, Russia, and the United States. His visual art, much like his literary legacy, inspired generations of modern Indian artists. Today, 102 of his artworks are preserved in the National Gallery of Modern Art, India, serving as a testament to his enduring impact on Indian art and culture.
